4.á Choose the
Appropriate Lift Type
If the stairway is straight, with
no intermediate landings, and is wide enough that boarding
at the base of the stairway is not an issue, then a
lift designed for strictly straight stairways would be
appropriate.á It will be less expensive
than a lift with turning capabilities.
On the other hand, if the stairway
has any turns or horizontal landings, or is somewhat
narrow and will require the platform be stored and boarded
away from the stairs, choose the turning system with the rope
sprocket drive.
Standard Drive Box is Recommended
The standard, self- contained
drive box is recommended for most applications.
The robust steel cabinet contains the drive
system, control system and power disconnect, all in
a neat, lockable box.á It isá
much like a locked elevator machine
room.
The compact drive requires a
separate remote control box and is generally used only for
special situations.
